A few maintenance tips to keep yard spaces in tip-top shape!
Winter is finally coming to a close! With Spring comes the desire to be outside enjoying our yards and decks.
Remove leaves, pine needles, and other debris that have accumulated over the winter so your gutter system is ready to handle spring showers. Overflowing gutters and blocked downspouts can damage siding and foundations.
DECKS & PATIO FURNITURE
A harsh winter can make your deck look worn. Much like your yard, you’ll want to clean your deck this month to prepare it for any updates, like staining, or simply to enjoy as the weather gets warmer. Cleaning your deck of leaves and debris—especially between deck boards—prevents staining and reduces the chance of rot. Check for loose boards, and reset protruding nails to keep your deck safe. Sweep your deck and consider scrubbing it with a mixture of detergent and water. Use a large scrub brush to wash away any dirt or salt that may have changed the color of your deck. Avoid power washing your deck as that can damage the wood.
Outdoor furniture can get really grimy over the winter, so be sure to give everything a good scrubbing before you start using it for the season. Launder washable outdoor cushion covers and replace worn-out pieces if needed.
LAWN & GARDEN TOOLS
Sharp tools get the job done. Take your lawn mower and clippers in for a sharpening and tuneup before you begin work in your garden.
